They’re taking us to Marrakesh!

Marrakesh · The Medina

Why the continuation without a resolve from last week to this week? Remember how we mention that show generally gets the weak opponents out right away however there are sometimes one really good tandem gets knocked out early. I feel that’s what happened at the end of the episode. It was a regulation elimination. Doug and Dylan flailed around that market like 2 people walking any which where and that ironically, the kid says that he has great sense of direction when it is obvious that he has none. It was unreal watching them run around and so that brings me to Cody & Jaime seemed on it. They were the self proclaimed bickerers and wait a second, Cody and Jaime’s mom said to not bicker on the show, but Cody said that “bickering’s a huge part about why we got on the show!” Even still, they should have dealt much better considering what I saw of their play. Actually, I think she may have taken a lot of time in the slipper part of the challenge.

Doug and Dylan need to go. I am sorry but they are not winning this race. It is hard watching them. I was surprised they seeped through these two weeks. Doug said they are “blessed” to be 18 minutes from the top of the pack, while only being two minutes behind the second-to-last team. And, they are very lucky to still be in it.

It was also the day of Daisha and Dalton’s two-year first date anniversary who cares but anyway, he slid onto Phil’s mat like Phil said was like him, “sliding into third base. Daisha said that he “slid into my DMs,” “literally sent me a video of him sliding” in the video.

Matt evidently has 400 pairs of shoes. Is that normal? Are they collectible shoes or does he just buy shoes to wear every day? If he wore them each one time, he would still have 45 or so shoes that would not even get worn.

The challenge was all on foot this week. Marrakesh’s medina is the historic walled city. Teams needed to accomplish three separate tasks within the entire challenge itself. Everyone had to carry out three challenges in three parts of this walled city. Everyone could choose whatever one they wanted to do first, second and third.

Managing the hustle and bustle on these streets was tough. There are hardly any street signs. No one understands English there. These guys would have to ask for directions about 30 times. At one point, they would go only a few feet, which, honestly, is what I would have done too. Doug and Dylan had not even started the first part of the challenge, and the episode was half done. They were just walking and walking, and in places where you knew it was not part of the challenge or race. “Can you imagine being eliminated without finding even one of the Scramble locations?” Doug asked, and then it turned out they somehow made it before the last one. It was a complete win for them in the end, but I was surprised.

The only way we viewers could follow along was because of the shows map they would show with the “current location” of the contestants. Otherwise, it was just a big maze that we could not figure out.

The entire episode was crazy. Running around that market was crazy. The ending was crazy.

In one part of the challenge, everyone had to carry a rolled-up rug through the city and then unroll it to lay it down on top of a roof. It seemed like everyone could carry the carpet rather easily. It did not seem overly heavy, which was good for the people carrying it. In most cases, one person could do it.

Many of them did the Three Stooges thing, where they would turn and knock the carpet into the heads and faces of shoppers in the market. What I mean is that many people got by with these rugs, but only because they would run through without much regard for the shoppers.

The Slipper Search should be easy. Teams had to match the slippers they were chosen to find. They had to find the exact match without using one as reference. You also have to do it by vision and memory. And, it turned out to be hard for pretty much everyone at first. As a matter of fact, Dafina and Saran used the Roadside Assistance at the Slipper Search challenge.

I think alliances in The Amazing Race are worthless. Two teams set up an alliance and I am not even sure why unless its blanketed to cover at anytime in the future. The only thing they bring out is that someone does the work and then has to tell their alliance. It is not needed in the Race. You already have an alliance by way of your partner. Two is enough to win. When you start bringing in four to six people in a given alliance, it is never sustainable and never lasts, unless, again, you merely want someone to hand you answers, which is not really a thing, and when it is, it turns out to be stupid. Anuar wanted to wait for the other team. I never understood why anyone in the Amazing Race would do that to themselves.

Andrea yelled at one point that “hopefully we can work together,” and they did help them in the Dye ’N’ Dry. Even then, the only thing you can do is tell them to make sure of the timing and to make sure the entire thing is colored. Everyone then had to dye yarn yellow and blue. They needed to get the mix correct. They needed to time each one perfectly and differently. The yellow dyed yarn only needed to broil for about three minutes, I think, whereas the blue dyed yarn needed ten minutes. If you do not pass, you have to start over.

In the end, Michelle and Matt ended in first to win their Expedia planned vacation.

In second, third and fourth which was the slide by Dalton. Anuar and Andrea end up being second. Erin and Javi have started to prove me wrong although they did fight again but set that aside, they ended up in third while Daisha and Dalton ended fourth and at the same time, gets high points for his slide onto Phil’s mat.

Four more teams then arrived bringing the results for fifth place through eighth place. Cody and Jaime therefore showed up in last place.

Dylan and Doug somehow showed up before them giving those two ninth place! They should have been eliminated. I hate to say because they seem like lovely people, but they cannot navigate and they roam around like a mental patient only to somehow do better than one team this week. They got lucky this week. It is only a matter of time until they get knocked out and I maintain it will be sooner than later.
