HBO Max Pulls Back the Curtain on The Howard Stern Show
Howard Stern’s Radio Show Becomes a Weekly Streaming Series
HBO Max has partnered with The Howard Stern Production Company and SiriusXM to turn Howard Stern’s long-running radio program into a weekly filmed series. The show made its global streaming debut on September 17, 2026, and it marks the first time the program is available this way to a worldwide audience. Stern has said that for years his SiriusXM show offered only brief video peeks, and that HBO convinced him to pull back the curtain and let people watch.
It isn’t Stern’s first trip to the platform. His 2022 interview with Bruce Springsteen on HBO Max was loved by critics and fans, and that success helped set the stage for this bigger deal. You can read the announcement coverage from Variety and The Hollywood Reporter.
Live on SiriusXM Monday, on Your Screen Thursday
Stern does his live show on SiriusXM every Monday, with about 40 cameras capturing the conversation in the studio. That footage is then edited and adapted into a streamable episode that arrives on HBO Max early each Thursday, along with periodic extras that go beyond what listeners heard on the radio.
The episodes put the inner workings of the studio on screen: long form celebrity interviews, musical guests, staff antics, and Stern’s ongoing conversations with Robin Quivers. SiriusXM’s own announcement lays out the new schedule, which also marks a change on the radio side, with one new live show a week. The details are in the SiriusXM press release.
The Longtime Crew Is Still in the Room
Stern is joined by the team that has been with him for decades: co-host and news anchor Robin Quivers, studio wizard Fred Norris, and longtime executive producer Gary Dell’Abate, better known as Baba Booey. The streaming version keeps the show’s mix of interviews, comedy, and behind the scenes chaos.
Recent guests on the show, as listed by SiriusXM, have included Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, Eric Andre, Jack Antonoff, Nikki Glaser, Kate Hudson, Taylor Sheridan, David Spade, Sting and Shaggy, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Eddie Vedder.
The Move Comes After a Big Shake-Up
The streaming launch follows a major scale back of the radio show. Stern cut his SiriusXM schedule from three new shows a week to one new three hour show, and in July about a dozen staffers were reportedly let go as part of that change. Reports named longtime writers and producers Benjy Bronk, Jon Blitt, Memet Walker, and Mike Trainor among them. Of those four, only Trainor has publicly confirmed his departure, after 12 years on the show.
The cuts drew backlash from some listeners, who said one new episode a week was too little. The HBO Max series gives the reduced show a much larger audience to play to.
Stream It on HBO Max
The Howard Stern Show is streaming now on HBO Max, with a new episode every Thursday. To hear the live version, tune in to Howard’s channel on SiriusXM on Mondays.
