Coldplay brings its environmentally innovative Music of Spheres World Tour to Vancouver on September 22 at BC Place. It will be the British rock band’s first full Canadian gig since 2017.

The tour, which kicked off in March 2022 in support of Coldplay’s ninth studio album of the same name, is notable for being the first-ever stadium show powered by renewable energy. It utilizes sustainable stage production methods, including the world’s first rechargeable touring battery system. There are also electricity-generating pedal bikes on-site that audience members can hop onto to help charge the show’s batteries, as well as kinetic floors installed around the stadium that convert all of the dancing done to “Viva La Vida,” “Clocks,” and “Yellow” right back into pure energy.

Coldplay pledge to make this tour as sustainable as possible in order to reduce its carbon emissions by 50 per cent.

Along with being good for the environment, Music of the Spheres has also received serious acclaim for being a visually spectacular experience—in a five star review, the Guardian described it as “genuinely stunning,” while The Times went as far as to name it “the greatest live music show ever.”

Tickets go on-sale Friday, January 27 at 10AM via Ticketmaster.
