Kenyan celebrity couple David Mathenge (Nameless) and Rosemary Wahu Kagwi recently celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary.

The two musicians have stood the test of time compared to other celebrities.

In a post on Instagram, Wahu recalled how ‘haters’ dismissed their marriage in 2005.

“September 10, 2005 I got married to my boyfriend of eight years. A popular newspaper said we wouldn’t last more than two years….well…..17 years later, Bado tuko!!

How Wahu and Nameless met

In a video shared on Wahu’s YouTube channel, dubbed This Love Episode 1, the duo disclosed they met in 1998 at an event at Grand Regency Hotel (now Laico Regency).

Wahu reminisced that she was introduced to her husband by a mutual friend, Neto.

“I was going to, it was called Grand Regency then, Pete Odera whom I was doing back vocals for was performing,” Wahu recounted.

Nameless revealed that Wahu made the first move after he performed at the event.

“Najua nakaa vibaya, nakaa tu hivi cord ya mic imeanguka, naskia tu I hated that show, nikatoka, nikaenda kwa audience kukaa, at that point niliskia tu mtu amenitap, nikacheki, naona nikarembo hivi, ananiambia, yoh that was a cool performance, I am like no, akaniambia it was good, nikasema okay sawa tukaanza kuongea, akaniambia anaitwa Wahu,” he said.

And the rest, they say, is history.

Nameless and Wahu’s music

The two lovebirds have produced several hits that have taken the Kenyan airwaves by storm.

Nameless graduated from the University of Nairobi with a degree in architecture. He rose to fame in 1999 when he won a star-search contest on Capital FM via his song Megarider.

Wahu holds a bachelor of arts in mathematics & Communication degree. She started singing in school.

Her music career started in 2000 when she produced her first single “Niangalie”.

With their impressive songs, the duo have won several awards. Wahu was the inaugural recipient of the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2008 for the best female artist category.

Nameless has won over 10 awards, including the best performer at the 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards.

“We are a family, so pesa yangu ni yetu na pesa yake. I support her business; she supports mine because we want to grow together,” Nameless told Word is Friday.

Afro Siri Salon

Wahu is the director of Afro Siri salon located ground floor of Kenrail Towers, Westlands in Nairobi.

The salon offers services such as spa, hair, manicure, facial treatment and pedicure.

N-Zone clothing line

In August 2021, the duo launched their own clothing line named N-Zone.

“Excited to Introduce you to The N-zone! Keep it here if you are interested in psychology, philosophy and fashion,” a post shared on N-Zone’s Instagram page featuring Nameless and Wahu stated.

The company makes bombers, track jackets and hoodies.

Nameless’s architecture business

Having studied architecture at UoN, it’s one of the things that put food on his table.

The musician has once in a while shared photos of himself in construction sites inspecting how work flows.

He has also designed a number of state-of-the-art structures in and outside Nairobi. One notable structure attributed to Nameless is “The Hub Karen”, a massive mall in the leafy suburbs of Karen in Nairobi.

In other news, Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi revealed he was famous but broke in his first months when he appeared on Churchill Show

The 40-year-old said his fellow comedian Daniel Ndambuki (Churchill) taught him how to make extra cash by organising countrywide shows

The funnyman is the chief executive officer of Big Tyme Entertainment Company and has ventured into the multi-million club business.
